About Us

All CyberKnife, all the time

Anova Cancer Care is an independent radiation therapy center dedicated to treating patients with benign and malignant tumors using the CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System. CyberKnife is the latest clinically proven, autonomous continuous image-guided radiosurgery/stereotactic body radiation therapy technology available (See below, “Why CyberKnife Is the Best Option.”)

Our extensive experience with state-of-the-art CyberKnife technology offers exceptional range, accuracy and precision that can treat conditions not always suitable for treatment by traditional surgery, radiation therapy, or older radiosurgery systems, such as the Gamma Knife.

That’s why we use CyberKnife on patients with all types of cancers and benign tumors, including complex, advanced stage and inoperable cases. We do not offer traditional radiation therapy, chemotherapy or traditional surgery. Learn more about CyberKnife, request an appointment online.

Anova Cancer Care is the only full-time radiosurgery practice in the Denver area that uses CyberKnife.

World leaders in CyberKnife treatment

Anova Cancer Care has one of the most experienced CyberKnife teams in the United States, and has been recognized as the most experienced clinic in the world for prostate cancer radiosurgery.

Experience breeds success. Anova sees better prostate cancer cure rates with CyberKnife—at a fraction of the cost and practically no recovery time—versus IMRT or radioactive seed implants, which are other common forms of radiation therapy for prostate cancer.

Such results are due in part to CyberKnife, but also because of the experts using this tool to cure cancer patients. Anova Cancer Care is under the direction of our chief of radiosurgery and resident cancer specialist, Dr. Lee McNeely, has more than three decades of experience and has been a leader in the field.

He is assisted by two outstanding full-time PhD physicists, two Radiation Therapy Technologists, a nurse, and our front office staff.

Advantages of unbiased care & a sole focus on CyberKnife

As an independent company, Anova Cancer Care is not affiliated with any particular hospital system. This allows us to provide the most unbiased care and treatment for our patients.

Anova works with Medicare and with all major commercial insurance companies.  Our sole focus on radiation therapy treatment allows us to ensure that the proper procedures are followed in regards to medical reimbursement.

Why CyberKnife Is the Best Option

CyberKnife is the “gold standard” in cancer treatment because it offers:

  • Better patient outcomes than traditional surgery or radiation therapy
  • Safer equipment
  • Better, or the same, results as other treatments without damaging quality of life

Better treatment of recurring cancers.

CyberKnife vs. Traditional Radiation

Radiation therapy is the process of using high-energy radiation (x-rays, gamma rays) to control benign or malignant tumors. Conventional radiation treatments are typically given in 30-40 inconvenient and uncomfortable sessions.

CyberKnife

Traditional Radiation

Delivers radiation with extreme accuracy, targeting only the tumorDelivers radiation to wide field of cancerous and healthy tissue
Preserves the most healthy tissue possibleHarms more healthy tissue
No uncomfortable immobilization techniques. CyberKnife automatically adjusts to patient and tumor movement.May use uncomfortable and restrictive patient immobilization techniques that limit breathing and movement
1-5 treatment sessions30-40 treatment sessions
Mild side effects and often no side effects Severe side effects

  • Fatigue
  • Hair loss
  • Damage to healthy cells (brain, spinal cord, bowels, lungs, skin, etc.)
  • Frequent urination, painful urination, and diarrhea for weeks (and potentially longer) for prostate patients

CyberKnife vs. Traditional Surgery

CyberKnife is surgery—radiosurgery that precisely targets and kills cancerous cells in tumors while virtually eliminating the damage done to healthy cells by other treatments. That damage is the major cause of side effects from other types of cancer treatments.

Surgical treatment of tumors requires cutting into the patient to remove the unwanted mass and any surrounding tissue. Surgery is the oldest type of cancer treatment, and surgical methods continue to improve. Traditional surgery often requires the patient to take a few weeks off of work in order to recover fully.

  • Anesthesia related risks and side effects
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Post-operative complications, some requiring additional surgery
  • Weeks, and potentially months, of recovery time for major surgical procedures
  • Pain
  • Significant negative permanent impact on quality of life
  • Risk of death
